Book Fair! May 19th-22nd

Mark your calendars!  Our school will be having a Scholastic Book Fair May 19th through the 22nd.  This will be our annual Buy-one-get-one-Free fair.  For every book a student purchases, they will receive a book of equal or lesser value free.  This is a wonderful and very popular event at our school offering students an opportunity to stock up on books for over the summer and keep them reading!  Students will be able to shop before school, lunches, during their scheduled library time, and after school.  Parents, family members, and community members are always welcome!  You may pay with cash, checks (please make checks payable to “Scholastic Book Fair”), and credit cards.  Sales tax will be collected.  Hope to see you there!!

This middle school building facilitates learning for 6th through 8th grade students. These years are a difficult time for students as they change from children to adolescents. The staff at the Middle School recognizes and understands this aspect of the students they serve.

Many proactive programs have been put in place above and beyond the regular classroom instruction. Following is a list of services and/or programs available to all our middle school students:

·        Harassment Training: Staff members are trained on preventing harassment of students and learn how to identify and deter acts of harassment.

·        Character Education: Staff members assist students as they discover who they are and their individual abilities.

·        Peer Mediation/Student Assistance Program

·        Safe Schools Program

·        STAND (Students Taking A New Direction)

·        P.A.S.S. (Middle School Parent Association)
Sports Boosters

·        Junior Achievements

·        Gold and Silver Club

·        Band

·        National Honor Society

·        Hall of Fame: A display case highlighting achievements of alumni from Galesburg-Augusta

·        Sports: Football, Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Wrestling, Volleyball, Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Tennis

Visitors are always welcome at G-A Middle School, and we encourage you to call (269) 484-2020 to talk with our school principal, Mr. Christopher Hurley (e-mail address without spaces churley@gacsnet.org), or arrange a time to meet with him and visit the school.
