Dear Freshman Students,

We are reaching out to you with great concern with regard to your academics and current level of performance here at Galesburg-Augusta High School.  First and foremost, we want you to know that our number one goal is for you to succeed in each and every class.  Your success in school is often linked to success in your future efforts.   We believe you can achieve!!!
Here are strategies that have proven to be helpful toward student success
:
  • Organize by using a system that works for you (Planner, and/or Folders to keep track of things)
  • Come to class on time, prepared with book, pencil, and paper
  • Attend class not only physically but also by paying close attention to instruction; don’t interrupt or distract
  • Complete and turn in all assignments
  • Study for tests and quizzes
  • Actively participate in all classes by asking questions, listening, and responding to teacher prompts
  • Use seminar time wisely, complete unfinished homework, read, or seek support from teachers in the areas of difficulty

Come to Homework Help Lab or ask teachers for a time to receive additional assistance after or before school

New graduation requirements make it very important to stay on track by taking steps each day in the direction of your high school diploma.  We are here to help you stay on course and your school success is important to us.  We hope you will demonstrate your commitment by giving your best effort in everything you do.  Please feel free to ask any one of us for assistance in staying on the path to a positive future.

Sincerely,
Kim Ditto,
Guidance Counselor
